DR Salt Car, 99-40-91 |

This small car has a real prototype. It was used during the winter months to put salt onto the rails to keep them clear. Despite its short length – only 5 meters (16 ft. 5 in.) – the car was equipped with two brakemen’s platforms. Thus, the closed car body probably was only 3 m (9 ft. 10 in.) long. The car was used on the electrically operated narrow gauge railway in Klingenthal. This 1000 mm line was part of the DR. The LGB model features the authentic lettering of the car that was stationed in Klingenthal. Similar cars may have existed on other lines. |
